all those opposing SOPA, please read this! SOPA is a wonderful idea! You just don't understand. It gives corporations the right to take down any website that infringes on their rights, and hurts their business in any way.
For example, a corporation that makes stero cables is planning to take down Ebay and Craig's List, and similar sites, as soon as SOPA passes. These sites are hurting their business, and the business of other companies. By allowing people to sell used unwanted items online, and giving people the option to buy these items cheaper, rather than paying full price, is hurting thousands of businesses.
This "recycling" stops items from going into the landfill, and prevents some of the pollution created by factories, which helps keep nature in check. With reduced pollution, things like birds, trees, and frogs, all of which known to be public nuisances, can reproduce and even thrive. Birds excrete disease filled feces on things, trees drop leaves all over, which have to be burned so they aren't a mess, and frogs are potentially poisonous.
Free internet hurts restaurants, with websites devoted to teaching people to cook. They give out recipes for food that most people would otherwise need to go out to get.
With the laws as they are now, people are able to create what is known as fan art, which is when someone reproduces copyrighted content (songs, characters from tv, games or books, etc.) in their own way, supposedly as a tribute. This action hurts the original producers, since people can simply enjoy this "fan art" without first paying for the products that inspired it. SOPA would see to it that these delinquents are safely behind bars where they belong.
Any place where people can openly share ideas and opinions could easily lead to political instability.
the internet is a source of nearly infinite knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power is corrupting. The internet is, therefore, the root of all evil. Ignorance is bliss, therefore the internet must be the singular source of the world's depression.
Please, join me in supporting SOPA, to reform the internet into what it should have been from the beginning, a network the corporations of america can use to thrive, to sell, to grow. Nothing more, nothing less.
Also, for reasons i dont know or understand, PIPA is definately a good idea, too.
